About Yazd


Yazd province is located in the central part of Iran's central plateau, between 29 degrees and 52 minutes to 33 degrees and 27 minutes north longitude and 52 degrees and 55 minutes to 56 degrees and 37 minutes east latitude. The province has an area of ​​130304 square kilometers. Yazd is limited to northern and western provinces of Semnan and Isfahan, north east to Khorasan Razavi province, east to Kerman province and South Khorasan, southwest of Fars province and south east to Kerman.

According to the census in 2007, the population of this province was 999042 people.

Yazd province has ten cities, twenty three towns, twenty divisions, and fifty one rural districts.

The most important productions of the province are tile and ceramic, brick, carpet and fabric, and constructional and leaded rocks are the most important productions in the iron ore mining sector.


Yazd knitting industry has a great reputation. The confectionery industry in Yazd province has been long well known and its products have become so famous, which has exceeded the borders of Iran. The most famous Yazdi sweets are known as the Qutab, Cotton candy and Baklava.


The most productive parts of the city's industrial units are textiles, ceramic tiles and carpets. Industrial units of Yazd province are mainly concentrated in industrial towns of Yazd and Meybod and Ardakan. Also, Yazd has a lot of mines, the most important of which are iron ore Chadermulo Ardakan and Choghart, and Kushk lead and zinc mine.

Also rich uranium mines were discovered in the late 80's in Saghand Ardakan region.

The population of Yazd province in 2014 is estimated at more than one million and one hundred thousand people.

Yazd, with an area of 2397 square kilometers, is the first city of the raw clay and the second most historic city in the world. The city is the most populous city in the province due to the presence of professional attractions, welfare, gob opportunities and administrative concentration.
